Honda has built more different motorcycles than most other marques combined, and we’ve wrecked a fair slice of them over the years. Whatever model you’re chasing parts for, there’s a good chance we’ve had one through the yard.
In more than 30 years wrecking bikes, we’ve seen just about every Honda that’s been sold in Australia come through the gate at some point. Small capacity commuters, learner bikes, big sports models, adventure bikes, the lot. That history means our staff have handled enough different Hondas to know where the common failure points are on most models, and which parts tend to survive a crash intact. It’s not something you can fake, it just comes from pulling bikes apart for a long time.
Some parts off a Honda are worth chasing used and some aren’t. Engines and gearboxes are usually the first things people ask about, because a good running motor out of a wrecked bike can save a total rebuild. Instrument clusters, fairings in factory colours, and wiring looms also move quickly, since they’re expensive to replace new and fiddly to source anywhere else. Consumables like brake pads or chains aren’t really worth buying secondhand, and we’ll tell you straight if that’s the case.
Buying a used part sight unseen can feel risky, especially for something like an engine or a set of forks. We test every part on the bench before it’s sold, so a used clutch or a caliper off our shelf has already been checked, not just pulled off a wreck and hoped for the best. You get a 7 day warranty on top of that, so if there’s a fault you didn’t catch straight away, you’re not left wearing the cost. That standard applies to a full engine just as much as it does to something as small as a mirror.
Honda changed small things between model years more often than people expect, a bracket, a wiring plug, a bearing size, so a part that fits one year might not fit the next. That’s why we always ask for the make, model and year before we quote anything. It’s not us being fussy, it’s how we make sure the part we send actually bolts straight on instead of coming back. If we haven’t got the right one pulled yet, we’ll note it down and get in touch once it’s off a bike.
